Alright, so I’ve been using my Macbook Pro 13 with Snow Leopard as my main computer for around 4-5 days.
Specs
The pro that I opted for had the following basic specs, you can get more detail from apple’s website if you’re interested.
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
250GB 5400rpm HDD
The Macbook
As it’s the aluminum uni-body build it just looks and feels great. Every part of it feels well made and durable.
I’ll enclose some photos:
OSX – Snow Leopard
This being my first Mac does mean that I cannot draw many comparisons between Snow Leopard and previous versions of OSX.
I can say however that I’ve found the whole transition really pleasant. Once you get over the learning curve (mainly the application management system and the keyboard for me) I’ve found it to be particularly fast and efficient.
Something worth mentioning is the sheer speed of the everything. It boots in under 10 seconds, shuts down in 3 and doesn’t seem to struggle with anything. So far I’ve seen the most impressive performance difference in Photoshop. I applied a sharpening filter to an entire large image, something that I’d expect to see a progress bar for a few seconds during execution. It managed it instantly.
I have made some terminal tweaks and tried a few applications of the same kind to see what I find the best but that’s a whole other post.
So in summary, Snow Leopard and Macbook Pro = Good.
